All Star Baseball '99

Make the Pitcher Miss the Ball If your pitcher has the option of throwing a knuckler, you can make him miss the ball when the catcher throws it back to him. This will not count as an error. First, select your pitch as a knuckler. Next, pitch the ball on the upper-inside corner, as far as it will go, so it will be a ball. The catcher will catch it, but he won't throw it back immediatly. The pitcher will act like he caught the throw back, and he will turn around. At this point, the catcher throws the ball back but the pitcher misses it!! The ball rolls out to second base, but then the game will go on to the next pitch. Backwards Batters When you are already into a game, pause it and go to the change lineup option. Then replace your batter with a different batter that bats the same way. Go back to the game long enough just to see your batter. Then go to the change line-up option again and replace your batter with a batter that bats opposite of him. (A righty for a lefty, or vice versa.) Then go look at your batter and he'll be backwards. Easy Pick Off When you are on the mound and there is a runner on base you wait there (without pitching)until he comes to far off the base. Then you through the ball to the base he is on and 90% of the time he will be out and 10% of the time he will be called safe or he will try to advance a base and be caught in a run down. Save Your Pitchers ERA This is a neat trick to use when you are playing a season game. If you have a pitcher, who has a really good ERA, and in the middle of a shut- out, and the computer hits a home run, you can keep the run from being credited to your favorite pitcher on the mound. Before the home run ball lands in the stands, simply hit "start" and go to "bullpen" and select "bullpen to mound" and then pick some loser guy who you never use. Then go back to the game, and the guy will announce the new pitcher you just brought in, then go on announcing the home run after it lands in the stands. After the game is over, and you check your pitching stats, that homerun will not be credited to the pitcher who threw the ball, but the new pitcher you brought in after he hit it! Turn Into a Lizard Go to select staidium and select Kaufman Staidium. When at bat notice two signs that read"Win a Lizard". Hit a sign with a ball and your team will turn into lizards. Easy Out For an easy out, when a runner on the computers team gets on any base throw the ball to the base he's on and keep throwing between the base he's on and the base in front of him until a player throws it wildly then the runner will leave the base, just throw the ball to the closest person and tag him out. Sometimes one of the throws is so wild that the other player can't catch it, so it helps to use this trick when a player is on first or second. Clone Players Trade any outfielder for any pitcher. Then go to Exhibition and select the team that received the the pitcher.Go to lineup changes. You should see the pitchers name in that outfield position. Then change the pitcher to the one you received in the trade. When you start the game, the pitcher will be playing both positions SIMULTANIOUSLY! In-Game Key Codes Want to change some things on the fly? Do the following key commands in the game (U stands for up, L for left, A for A-Button, and so on) Paper thin: URARADDUUD Big Extremes: LARDBALL Big Baseball: URALLBULL Baseball trail: BLURDBALL Fat & Skinny: ALLRUBR Baseball Trail For a baseball trail, enter GRTBLSFDST at the Cheat Menu. Big Baseball To get the big baseball, enter the following cheat at the Cheat Menu: BBNSTRDS Fat & Skinny Paper Players weren't enough, huh? Try this one: ABBTNCSTLO. Enter it at the Cheat Menu. Break Bats This is a very simple code. If you want plenty of broken bats throughout the game then type in the codes section: BRKNBAT Big Heads, Bats and Feet At the cheat menu enter: gothelium. This enables big head, bat, feet mode. Paper Players At the cheat menu enter: prppaplyr. This enables paper thin players mode. Get Abducted (Ultimate Cheat) Here's how to get Acclaim's much-advertised "Ultimate Cheat:" Enter the following word at the "Enter Cheats" screen: ATEMYBUIK. Now start a game and choose the following stadium: Alienopolis. The second team will now be replaced by bug-eyed green aliens (from a team called the Abductors") and play in a futuristic stadium called Alienopolis. Although the players' appearance will be changed, their images and abilities remain normal. Dumb Computer If someone gets a single, throw the ball to second base. Then run out to the right field wall where the two walls meet. Then throw the ball to third and the dumb computer will run to second. Now either someone will cut the ball off and you can throw him out at first, or on the next play you can pick him off. So it's okay to give up a single. A Sure Hit This trick works against the computer as well as a manual player. To do this trick you need to be somebody who has desent speed. For instance, you cannot use a pitcher to do this trick, but you do not need somebody as fast as Kenny Lofton. Now when you are batting, hold C-down to bunt. While holding C-down, hold left on the control stick until the bunt is aimed as far left as possible, towards third base. Then aim your bat to the spot at which the pitch aid is. The batter will bunt it down the third base line and the defense will not be able to get you out in time. Hit by Pitch Glitch The first thing you should do is let a player hit a foul ball, if the player runs through first base before the umpire says "foul ball" let him go back to home plate. Now bean him (or walk him), if you do this he should go directly to second base instead of first base. Extra Running Speed When running to a base to speed your player up quickly tap the Z button. This also works when running back to a base by hitting R quickly. More Pitch Selections Go to options and put arcade mode on first then Press and hold either the Z or L button to get a second set of pitches. Now you'll have eight pitches to choose from, including the spit-fastball and the screwball! Three River Stadium Glitch When playing at Three Rivers Stadium look at the right feild score board and you will always see 2, 2, 2 standing for 2 hits, 2 errors, and 2 runs. Weird Catcher Start a game anywhere with any two teams. Switch the controls so its computer vs computer. Then put it on manual camera. When the game starts p push left on the D pad (not on the joystick). That should make all the guys freeze. Now press start and go to restart game. Then when you move the camera around you'll see a long catcher with a glove on each hand. If you press LEFT on the D-pad again to unfreeze the game it will restart. Helmet Change Glitch I was playing a game (Braves vs. Cardinals). The Cardinals were at bat when I noticed something. Each player had a blue helmet. But when they were running the bases the helmets were red. This is a terrible glitch that Acclaim should have caught. Manual Camera in Home Run Derby If you want to enable the manual camera option in Home Run Derby, do the following: Start a regular game (not Home Run Derby) and turn on the manual camera view. Now exit the game and enter Home Run Derby. Now controller 2 (or which ever one isn't used to control the players) can mess around with the camera views, just like in the other modes. Slow Motion and Freeze Go to the options and pick manual camera (you need to have a controller plugged in that is not used for any team). While playing, you can use the control pad to freeze or put the game into slow motion. Push left on the pad to freeze the game and right to put it into slow motion. Easy Homers (vs. Computer) Here is a way to almost always get a hit or a homerun in All-Star Baseball 99: First, turn on the pitch aid on the options screen. In the game, always set up your batting marker a little below the pitching marker -- so that the pitch marker is almost even with the top of your batting marker. Now, if the pitcher throws you an inside pitch, line the batting marker up so it is on the inside section of the batting marker, with the pitchers marker still directly even with the top of your batting marker. It should look like this: *+ . This will make you pull the ball. Do the same if the pitch is outside, only have the markers lined up like this. +*. This will make you hit the ball oposite field. If you get under it enough, you will hit a homerun, or get a base hit. ALMOST always. Easy Strike When you are pitching, if the batter squares around for a bunt and misses, he will automaticaly do it a second time -- so make your second pitch a pitch out, by pushing the B button after you select your pitch, instead of the A button Stats Bug Fix Just in case you missed it: To correct the stats errors that sometimes occur in All-Star when loading from a memory pak, simply load the stats twice. This will fix the problem. Cal Ripken Glitch When playing at Camden Yards the scoreboard in center field always has Cal Ripken's stats and says it's the bottom of the seventh inning. Easy Base To get a runner on first base, press C-Down. This will cause you to bunt. Hold C-Down and aim your bunt toward third base. Whan the ball is bunted it will be down the 3rd base line. The players will attempt to throw you out but you will be safe. Little Home Run Derby Guy Make sure you have a roster slot open on a team. It should say "empty" instead of a player's name. Go to HOME RUN DERBY and pick that guy. You won't even see him him walking in the grass because he's really small and dark. It takes a while for him to reach the mound, so be patient. Watch the pitcher; he'll actually have to throw to the ground so this guy can hit the ball. He does pretty good though, and its funny to watch. have fun! Pick-Off Base Runners You can pick off the baserunner easier if you first pick the pitch you want to throw. Now wait until the baserunner has gone to his biggest lead- off possible (some baserunners will take a big one.) Then press the A button to pitch the ball to the batter, but before he can pitch the ball press the C button that the baserunner is leading off of. The result should be that the pitcher will start his wind-up and then quickly throw out the baserunner. NOTE: This trick works best when the baserunner is on second base. Smaller Strikezone When you create a player, get a batter with a crouched batting stance. That player will have a smaller strikezone and it will be easier to hit the ball. Victory Dance After the oppsing team scores, walk your player to home plate. The man who just scored will be doing the YMCA or the Macarana. Pick Off Baserunners Easily Here's how to pick off computer opponents EVERY time they reach second: Select your pitch, then wait for the stupid baserunner to edge past the umpire on the screen, then pick him off. It's that simple. For all those who enjoy finding faults with sports games, enjoy. For all the rest of you, who yearn for a real challenge when it comes to sports games, collectively groan. Cheat the Computer Here's a nifty little underhanded way to cheat in All-Star: Wait until you're at bat, hit the ball anywhere, and then quickly pause the game and switch your controller to the other team. That way you can make the outfielder miss the ball, the SS not throw an easy grounder, and so on.
